What is the Best Toothbrush on the market?

Virtually everyday at my dental practice I am asked to opine to the best toothbrush on the market. My answer is always the same, the Oral B series of electric toothbrushes.

I have promoted this line of electric toothbrushes exclusively for the past 8 years for one reason, they are proven through clinical trials to be superior in plaque and gingivitis reduction to manual toothbrushes.

Oral B electric toothbrushes have 2 mechanisms of action. The brush heads both oscillate and rotate simultaneously. The accumulation of plaque on teeth near the gingiva left over time causes the inflammatory state called Gingivitis. Gingivitis left unchecked over time can progress to gum disease. When placed at the intersection of the tooth neck and gum tissue, the rotating and vibrating action thoroughly disseminate plaque leaving the teeth and gum tissue in a clean vibrant state.

The best toothbrush is elevated further by accessories that come with each unit. 1. Brush Heads A large variety of toothbrush heads are available for any preference. Orthodontics, polishing, extra soft and my favorite, the floss action head. The floss action head, although no substitute for flossing, actually reaches deeper in between teeth for better plaque removal.

2. Rechargeable battery Take it on trips with you. The charge can last up to a couple weeks or store on the holder ready at all times.

3. Brushing Timer Dental professionals generally feel it takes approximately 2 straight minutes of quality brushing to thoroughly debride the mouth of plaque and leave it clean. The Oral B electric toothbrush line comes with either a vibration alert, audible beep or a visible timer to help maintain proper time awareness when cleaning your teeth.

In addition to controlled clinical trials providing results of Oral B electric toothbrushes vs. manual brushes, I have over 8 years of real world experience viewing plaque levels and gingivitis levels of patients that use manual and those that use the best toothbrush. My hygienist complements patients daily on the increased quality of home care from regular Oral B use.

Make the switch today and improve your own oral health. Don't forget to brush your tongue.
